And this phrase translates into "... pleases me" or "... makes me happy" or (my favorite way to think of it) "... enchants me"

Becomes ... Me encantan los gatos.
Which literally is ... Cats enchant me.
While I wouldn't use this verb - encantar - for telling a person that I loved them, I really enjoy using it to express things or ideas. Especially ones that I truly do find enchanting.
As a current, rather novice, student of Spanish, I love learning the nuance of the language and how it affects how I think and speak in both languages.
